In 1982 they lawfully occupied what was known as the Youth House (Ungdomshuset) at Jagtvej 69, on the outskirts of Copenhagen's inner city. The film portrays the group's situation in 2007, documenting the stormy last six months of the Youth House's history, where the radicalized group rage against the establishment. How should President-elect Barack Obama handle our tricky relations with Pakistan? This week, David Brancaccio sits down with author and journalist Tariq Ali, who grew up in Pakistan, to discuss what he thinks team Obama should do to improve its standing in Pakistan in particular and the region as a whole.

"I think it should back off militarily. That's the key," Ali tells NOW. Ali says the U.S.'s roughly 20 reported attacks against Al Qaeda inside Pakistan's borders since late August are doing more harm than good because they "mainly have hit civilian targets."

The question of how to handle nuclear-armed Pakistan has become especially difficult amidst Indian claims of Pakistani links to the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, which left at least 170 people dead.

What's the best strategy for the U.S. in Pakistan and how will it impact the war in Afghanistan, where Obama has said he plans to send more troops? Watch for an insider's view of how the president-elect should proceed.

Rummy was called out for the liar that he is by former CIA analyst Ray McGovern at a conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 4th, 2006. The three screenshots above are from two seperate clips: the first two from MSNBC's Countdown, and the third from CNN live breaking news. This torrent also contains a partial transcript from Countdown's May 4th show, and an animated GIF of Rummy's exact moment of shame, when McGovern asked him, "Why did you lie to get us into a war that was not necessary, and that has caused these kinds of casualties? Why?"

[quote]There have been many explanations offered for why, in one of the times of the greatest political turbulence in American history, there has been comparative apathy in places that have been past venues for public protest. One answer, that the administration has been outstanding in cherry-picking not just intelligence but also the makeup of the crowds that greet or interact with its key players.

Our story on COUNTDOWN, that latter component, the governmental equivalent of the Cone of Silence from the old TV series Get Smart, this afternoon broke down again, for the second time in six days.

First, the presidents lambasting by Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner, and now, todays vivisection of Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, with only Rumsfelds own words as weapons, at a speech in Atlanta, one of several interchanges with critics, in this case a former CIA analyst, lasting four minutes.

Special thanks to the folks at Son of Shun who seeded the entire Countdown episode only minutes after I requested it. The clip had to be edited and audio sync corrected since the source file had VBR audio. There's a 4 and 1/2 second blank-audio space at the beginning of the MSNBC clip because of this correction, but don't worry - it's fine. The CNN clip I found in WMV format on ed2k and ripped myself. I got the idea for all this from a post at ChomskyTorrents.org.
