Skin (2008)

Anthony Fabian directs this drama based on the true story of Sandra Laing (Sophie Okonedo/Ella Ramangwane), a black girl born to two white Afrikaaner parents (Sam Neill and Alice Krige) in South Africa during the apartheid era. A genetic throwback to the mixed blood of previous generations of her family, Sophie's skin colour causes problems for her bigoted father and her all-white school, which expels her despite her family's attempts to have her classified as white. Later in life, Sandra again causes shockwaves when she decides to marry a black man and have herself reclassified as black.
Seeders: 91
Leeches: 33

Sacco & Vanzetti - napisy pl

Category: Documentary
Description:
Sacco i Vanzetti to film z 1971 roku w reżyserii Giuliano Montaldo, Gian Maria Volontè i Riccardo Cucciolla, przedstawiający wydarzenia mające miejsce podczas jednego najgłośniejszych i najbardziej skandalicznych procesów w historii USA.
Brali czynny udział w ruchu robotniczym i anarchistycznym, walcząc o lepsze płace i humanizację stosunków pracy.
W filmie doskonale uchwycono klimat tzw.
Seeders: 0
Leeches: 1

A beautiful alien is sent from the planet Epsilon to pass judgment on the shameful way in which humans have mishandled their planet. Set in a near future in which humanity has made great strides in cleaning up the Earth, it begins as a grandmother tells her granddaughters a story from the past. Her tale begins in the desert outback during the dark times when people were actively ruining their planet. The naked alien is placed upon the desert where she eventually meets a surveyor who quickly gives her some clothing. As the two travel across the land, the alien constantly admonishes him for his race's carelessness and greed. She informs him that other intelligent life forms consider humans hopeless failures. Using her ability to travel instantly to any of Earth's locales, she takes the bewildered surveyor on a whirlwind tour to prove her point. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
Stunning cinematography of the Australian landscape as well!

Sandra Harkow (33) ist freiberufliche Journalistin in
Berlin.

Er will
Informationen...

"Auf Nummer sicher?" arbeitet neben der skizzierten
Spielfilmhandlung ebenfalls mit Experten-Interviews, echtem
Dokumentarmaterial und einer Mischform aus dokumentarischen
Aufnahmen, in denen fiktive Figuren auftauchen und findet so
eine formal aeusserst spannende und zeitgemaesse filmische
Mischform.

Reporter Sandra Jordan and director Siobhan Sinnerton travel to northern Sri Lanka and uncover the government's heavy-handed tactics in the latest stage of the country's 30-year civil war. As the first foreign journalists to visit the city of Jaffna, Jordan and Sinnerton discover that the government has abandoned the ceasefire signed in 2002 in favour of a military campaign against the rebel Tamil Tigers - with many innocent civilians paying the price.

The Sri Lankan Civil War is an ongoing conflict on the island-nation of Sri Lanka. Since the year 1983, there has been on-and-off civil war, predominantly between the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE, also known as the Tamil Tigers), a separatist militant organization who fight to create an independent state named Tamil Eelam in the North and East of the island.

The origins of the Sri Lankan civil war lie in sharp disagreements over language, access to universities, and riots between Sri Lanka's majority Sinhalese, mostly Buddhist, and minority Tamil, mostly Hindu, community. These gradually but continuously escalated from the 1920s until the outbreak of civil war in 1983.

I don't have all the story but Justice O'Connor has BLASTED the Republicans for their partisan attacks on the courts. She stated (paraphrase) that partisan attacks on the courts for political purposes must stop. She included references to cutting a court's budget, intimidation, and poisioning the public against the judicial system. Wow! Then she said something off the charts...She closed by saying (paraphrase) that it takes a long time to become a dictatorship but better to stop the slide at the beginning than the end. That's Right..Sandra Day O'Connor used the word dictatorship. Not some 'nutty blogger' not some 'left wing lezzy' but the most venerated, praised, widely respected, Justice O'Connor.

Jordan also examines the killing of Western peace activists like Rachel Corrie, Tom Hurndall and award-winning British film-maker James Miller. In a true investigative journalism style, Jordan interviews Israeli government and military spokespersons about the killings of Corrie, Hurndall, and Miller, and juxtaposes their statements against eyewitness interviews.
