In the process of moving the site to a new and faster server, it seems we've broken the forum login. Until we've figured this out, the forums will have to stay read-only. Sorry about that.

Weapons of Mass Deceptions-Codec???

Postby BigSplash on Tue Sep 19, 2006 12:43 pm

Not only am I technologically challenged, but I am totally new to this torrent world of codecs, seeds and leeches.

When I stumbled across ChomskyTorrents.org, I knew I found the cookie jar.

I spent sleepless nights on the internet trying to understand your secret underworld of p2p and poisonous tree frogs.

Finally to my own surprise overcame my cyberfear and downloaded a copy of Azureus.

I assure you, these things don't come easy to me, and I have no one to help me with this.

So if I sound a little desperate please forgive me, but I really am!

I was finally able to download "Weapons of Mass Deceptions", using Azureus.

I ended up with a bunch of files?!?

Problem is, none of them resemble anything that look like a movie, and none of my programs will open them.

Please help me

The files are called .r00 and upwards right? There should also be a file called .rar

This means that you must have WinRAR to unpack the files. Google, download and install. Then you should be able to unpack the files.

They are "packed" in an archive as this usually saves some diskspace. This is usually pointless with movies though, as they are already quite compressed. Text documents and pictures can be compressed a lot, but movies and audio little (depending a bit on the format).

If this last part sounded like greek, don't be alarmed. Just download WinRAR and install it. Then you should be able to extract the files. Either by doubleclicking the <filename>.rar and hitting "Extract", or by rightclicking on <filename>.rar and hitting "Extract".

Hope this helped :)
