In the process of moving the site to a new and faster server, it seems we've broken the forum login. Until we've figured this out, the forums will have to stay read-only. Sorry about that.

Google Analytics

I find it disturbing that torrent site with so to say "radical" content uses Google Analytics.
Are you aware you are letting Google know way too much details about users of this site,
most of who, on the other hand, probably have no idea what this rant is all about, and what
info Google is collecting from them while they are browsing through your pages?

Get serious, really!

Yeah, well. It's not like we haven't grappled with this. But the fact is that Google Analytics and other services like it are so widely used, we feel it wouldn't be much more than a symbolic gesture if we didn't use it. By far the most traffic we get originates from google anyway, so even if we didn't use GA, that wouldn't preclude them from knowing e.g. what page those users landed on.

Anyone concerned about this should consider using a Google Analytics opt-out browser plugin (there's an official one at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout , but I'm sure there are others around too).
And on a more general online privacy note (though I'm sure you know about this already, RazOR), TOR (http://www.torproject.org) has made a lot of progress in recent years, it's quite suitable for every day use.
