In the process of moving the site to a new and faster server, it seems we've broken the forum login. Until we've figured this out, the forums will have to stay read-only. Sorry about that.

Interesting to see it's the same ratio as "defence" spending - where they US also has 50% of the world total.

And yet the "news" keeps talking about Iranian threats against the US, and that the US is in the Persian Golf to "defend" itself. If Orwell was still alive, he would drop dead to the ground from laughter.

Thanks for the link, yet another instructive one

If the goal of this site is to promote free intellectual media, it should not contain conspiratorial nonsense. For instance, contributions by Alex Jones should not be considered as relevant material for this site. As Howard Zinn has said before, "the truth is radical." As radical leftists, we should pander to the truth as opposed to falsehoods because the propagation of non-rational, baseless information is reactionary. Are we the children of revolutionary ideas? Or are we the sheep of Fox News?

Actually, I disagree with Zinn there. The truth isn't clouded by the political spectrum. It is simply the truth.

And I'm also a little bit sceptical of using terms such as "left". It tends to alienate many people, and thus limit the impact we can have in trying to make the world a better place (or at least a less shitty one). I think it's more fruitful to focus on the issues, instead of ideological labels.

Well, I found this great site by searching for "horse zoofilia", so there. Yes, I was feeling rather randy although I don't know why it is any of your buisness.
After my initial disappointment at being unable to locate the promised naughty material, I quickly realised the gold-mine I had stumbled upon in my hazy quest for release. I returned later (I obviously had more pressing concerns at the aforementioned time of discovery) and have downloaded several documentarys and have, at the time you read this, made my first post on the forums.

My point is as follows: I t is a GOOD THING that people upload pornography and other apparently unrelated materials to the site. If they didn't then I wouldn't have found this site, which would inaugurably be a bad thing. And it is also a GOOD THING that that kind of crap is taking down as soon as possible, as it only takes up space on a site that MUST be as streamlined and straight-forward as possible while, at the same time, increasing its volume of relevant materials(as the amount of relevant materials is constantly increasing).
As anyone will quickly realise, it is impossible to actually keep an ever-increasing amount of data streamlined for any but the briefest of spans. The "thumbs up/down" "solution" the site has realized seems more like a patch-effort, that requires little work on the sites part, than something that is actually thought through. Down the line it will put the weight on interest or entertainment-value rather than relevance. Is it SO hard to exclude torrents based on keywords that you HAVE to give power to the average user? I think we all can imagine what would happen if the average person got to decide anything of importance to other people based solely on their own whims: Pain, suffering, CHAOS!

I mean, seriously, I came here looking for "horse zoofilia", why would you give me the power to decide if anything is relevant? I could be insane, confused, misguided, even a pervert. Never give average people any kind of power; they are unused to it and will ruthlessly abuse it to soothe their fragmented egos.
