*********** Seeding at 20Kb/s ,Hang on in there people! ************* Chomsky is back, contesting official versions of history and today's news in two powerful two-hour talks and a 45-minute interview! While each piece stands alone, they also complement one another to provide both a far-ranging view of world politics and a glimpse into Chomsky's personal political beliefs that is both entertaining and informative. In "Imperial Grand Strategy," a lecture given at the University of Manchester, Chomsky takes on the war in Iraq. He cuts through the ideological fog that surrounds the invasion and occupation, laying waste to the US government's justifications for them. In the process, he uncovers the real motivations behind US military aggression: a global imperial plan put in place long before Iraq-and that will extend far into the future, unless we do something about it. "The Assault on Freedom and Democracy," delivered at Merrimack College, moves from broad, geopolitical concerns to the sort of authoritarian societies needed "on the ground" for such imperial strategies to work. Discussing the Patriot Acts (1 and 2) at home and a long and disgraceful US history of "democracy-building" abroad, Chomsky highlights the vast difference between noble rhetoric and our consistent military and economic support for dictators and thugs. The DVD ends with "Questions About Anarchism," an interview with Barry Pateman of the Emma Goldman Archives. In a more relaxed and personal exchange, Chomsky discusses the anarchist principles that have guided him since he was a teenager and that lie behind the social and political analysis he's been producing for the last four decades. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/190485947X/103-2178191-8682264?v=glance&n=130 EDIT: Please support the people at AK Press, who bring you all this: AK PRESS

Someone rip this to AVI and create a torrent for it please!

Btw, I didn't mind to sound like an ingrate Smile Appreciate the upload very much.. thank you.

I realized after my comment that the runtime of this DVD - almost 4 hours - probably makes it inpractical to rip as a 700MB AVI. So the full DVD is probably the preferrable alternative. Although, I suppose, someone might want to rip this to an AVI larger than 700MB if they wished and if they thought it was worth it.

In any case, thanks again for the upload.

I believe when it says 2hours30mins, that is the proper time, recorded in 2004. Someone posted .avis in the forum a couple of months ago, in four parts, but not the interview. Now in this torrent we have 5 larger parts. Is the last and 300 MB file the interview? Unfortunately, I guess no, because proportions speak against it. Maybe you could clear this up.

The DVD has 2 lectures: the first in Manchester, UK (22 May 2004), lasting 1:42, the second at Merrimack College, lasting 1:10, and finally there is an informal discussion with Barry Pateman in what appears to be Chomsky's office lasting for 0:50. There is a lot of content on the DVD (3:40), so a reasonable quality AVI would be 1.7 GB or so.

snowmudman, the last 357 MB VOB file only includes part of the final discussion.
