Lots to discuss here but I hate the word "basically" and the one interviewer (some meritocratic British git) was repeating it eleven times in the course of a half hour. The USA is no better and I usually just turn tv or audio off after the first basically and have done with it.

Good content by Adam Curtis though if you can get through the the blather by the cast of "little atoms" where the interview was held.

Curtis must have a good background in the work of Marshall McLuhan-- one of the three great theorists of the 20th century. I rank him with Freud and Einstein.

The self organizing systems which Curtis speaks of seem to refer directly to McLuhan's 'global village.'

But the caution here comes from Wikileaks. The interview posted here on OBT with Julian Asange has him say that self organizing tools such as facebook and twitter were to be strictly avoided in the 40 page "action booklet" or some such for organizers in Egypt.

Listen for it here:

So the trope that everything in Egypt was done on facebook and twitter is jive and bs-- or that which was done on it caused arrests and needless deaths.
