An interesting 2 part documentary that compares/contrasts the perception of Spies in Cinema and Popular Culture vs Real Spies in our modern day world.
The documentary interviews (usually with hidden identities) a number of different spies that work for MI5 and MI6 in a number of different areas. They discuss British Spies abroad and Foreign Spies at home.
The doc continues by outlining some of the "tactics" used by these intelligence regimes. Tactics like: "the honeypot", "the bump" etc etc.
While interesting, it's still pretty basic...nothing incredible is revealed...pretty much used as a justification for the ever-increasing Intelligence State (they seem to use "a response to terrorism" as justification, which is valid for most the examples they provide, but tends to ignore when they go too far- esp. in part 1). To their credit, they do mention that tactics utilized could be perceived as "entrapment" in part 2, but this is brushed off by the MI5 spokesman who essentially justifies their actions (no matter what). This segment is followed by interviews with some American Muslims who were targeted and entrapped by such tactics.
There are also interviews with FBI spokesman and Shin Bet spokesman who justify the actions carried out by their agencies.
Worth a watch, anyways.
I did not cap or encode, im just aggregating. Thanks to original ripper.
