About the Author
Todd Gitlin is professor of journalism and sociology and chair of the Ph. D. program in communications at Columbia University, and the author ofOccupy Nation: The Roots, the Spirit, and the Promise of Occupy Wall Street. He lectures widely on matters relating to OWS and has written for most major newspapers and magazines in the U. S. as well as many around the globe, and is frequently quoted and interviewed in the media. He is the author of fourteen previous books about politics, culture, movements, and media and has been a columnist for the New York Observer and the San Francisco Examiner. In 1963-64, he was the third president of Students for a Democratic Society.
