Meades Eats Fast Food (F. Hanly, 2003)BBC
Here is a great little doc from my favourite of BBC's "celebrity hosts"- Jonathan Meades. His commentaries are always poetic, intuitive and hilarious. Things are no different here, where Meades takes on the perils of Fast Food Culture in Britain. Gotta love watching Meades stand next to stuff, use a shitload of adjectives and make fun of EVERYONE in his oh-so elegant style!
"Two metre tall burgers, Christopher Biggins sweating in a kitchen, a pig ;; singing about its forthcoming transubstantiation into sausage...this show is self-evidently a protracted revue sketch rather than an analysis of Britain's peculiar relationship to what it eats. Nevertheless it does make the point that the relentless mediated gastronomic revolution (fresh organic produce, decent restaurants etc) is enjoyed by a tiny fragment of the population - it is atypical of the common experience: most Britains eat industrial grot because that's all they can afford."
(just realized this is a 3-part series, i'll grab the other two episodes and upload them as well!)
