Channel 4 (UK): Dispatches George Monbiot's film, called "Greenwash". 5th March 2007 It shows how both the government and corporations have misled us about the cuts in greenhouse gas emissions they claim to have made. Dispatches commissioned an audit by scientists at University College, London of the government's climate change programme. The government claims that by 2020 it will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30% against their 1990 levels. The audit reveals that the real cut will amount to just 12-17%. This means that Tony Blair will leave office with the UK way off the necessary trajectory to meet his eventual target of a 60% cut by 2050.
