Animal Farm (GM Food Cloning) Pt 1

The first programme starts by looking at the outlandish creatures that can be produced by sex alone. From the cows bound by twice the muscle mass of their ordinary bovine counterparts, to the chickens that are completely devoid of feathers. All of which are achieved through simple traditional animal breeding or artificial selection.

Super salmon
The film looks at the high tech production of giant GM salmon that could help save our dwindling fish stocks, and GM rice that has been modified to contain carotenoids, precursors of vitamin A, that could help prevent common developing world deficiencies that can lead to blindness.

A double muscle rump
Olivia is a convert, but her co-presenter Giles reserves judgement. He finds that the muscle-bound meat doesn't cut the mustard on the flavour stakes.

I thought this was a horrible documentary. I thought it was extremely biased. They have a scientist on the GM side and a what boiled down to a food critic and the counter point. The critic would say things like GM, that sounds disgusting and would keep on describing GM in that manner with no actual points.. just unfounded opinions. He even said that he did want to eat GM salmon because he might contract their modified genes! Id be more worried about growing gills myself.

They also say things like "(the scientist) will try to convert you to why GM is good" and then say fuzzy things about the critic... I thought it all was blatantly biased.

As a vegetarian who trys to eat as much organic as he can I thought this was a waste of bandwidth.
