This documentary is an intimate and disturbing look at the violent
barrios of a small neighbourhood in Medellin, Colombia which is ruled
by a group of young men, mostly teenagers, affiliated with Colombia's
illegal paramilitary armies. The program follows the lives of three
members of the La Sierra neighbourhood for one year through times of
war, love, death, and tragedy.

La Sierra highlights the near 40-year-old civil war in Colombia,
where the left-wing guerrillas and right-wing paramilitaries fight
each other and government forces. In the past ten years, over 35,000
people have been killed in this bloody civil war.

La Sierra is guided by the lives of Edison, Cielo and Jesus who are
three young members of the barrio in Medellin. Their revealing
interviews provide an intimate look into what it is like to live and
struggle through the violence and hardships of the Columbian civil
war first-hand.
