The Kastner Trial (Israel, 1994) Three-hour miniseries

In 1954, Rudolf Kastner, a leading Labor Zionist who had been a major Zionist representative in Hungary in 1944 during the deportation of over half a million Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz, was a accused by an obscure pamphleteer, Malchiel Greenwald, of having collaborated with the Nazis in that deportation. The Labor Party (Mapai) government prosecuted Greenwald for libel on behalf of Kastner, but the trial proved a disaster both for Kastner and the government.
