I'm pretty new at this. Please send suggestions for improvement. The included text file is reproduced below:

I see you2 on there, but I have no movement on my client. Are you connected to me?

Looks like you're not seeding, floepiejane... need any help?

ok - now I notice that the peers list says that I'm "passive." How do I become "active"?

yes i do - i'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I can't get it to connect to you. Any suggestions? I believe I followed the directions properly. how do I get the seed to connect?

AAAAAAAA - it's there! I do not know why it didn't work before. oh well - enjoy!

floepiejane: "passive" (actually it should say: "not connectable" means that there's some obstacle that keeps peers from being able to establish a connection to you. Usually there's a firewall in the way that blocks some ports that your bt client needs for that.
it doesn't keep the whole thing from working at all, but you'll have a better experience if you're connectable.
there's numerous guides out there that deal with this. just google for "port forwarding".
