The Left's affinity for Atheism desperately needs to be re-evaluated. Yes, of course, organized religion has been used a means to control populations, but so has Marxist literature & Science. Perhaps these torrents would be more appropriate for a theology torrent site? Seems like we've had enough "but daddy I don't want to go to church!"-torrents for a while.

You discard a central aspect of culture and life so easily! Please, if you are interested in this subject, you must read two books to better understand what religion is. I assure you they are NOT christian apologetics.

u think this is theology? cmon only a desperate priest would say that. 've u seen it? i think this is a little more than 'daddy no more church', i know that jungs theory makes a lot of sense, but the question is how far can these -not just religous- believes go to control people? giving ourselves blindly to any dogma, such as god, is a 'volunteer' slavery.
i dont know if we 'need' collective faith & believes, we may do, but we also need to be aware of this situation so we dont fall in mass control and let no one think for us, cause they wont stop there.

this documentary, and darwins idea, is sth that everyone should know to undestand its misuse in society. nature is sth that we cant control and we're just a part of it. natural selection is its rule. but society is sth that we CAN control, and social darwinism should be abolished. but with ideas such as intelligent design -'modernized' creationism- we're condemning ourselves to an induced perpetual slavery.

As you state, Darwin has been poorly used by various groups. In fact, if you'll indulge an ad hominem attack, Darwin kind of misused "his" idea himself: The original full title of Origin of Species was "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life"
You see this Atheist reading of Darwin smacks of the same cold, rigid rationality as neo-classical economics. This is the real problem, not the church interfering with the state as you fear -- which by the way is sooo 1732. If you're still on a crusade for "truth in religion" please go back and review the Enlightenment.
