Ghosts of Rwanda marks the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide with a documentary chronicling one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century. In addition to interviews with key government officials and diplomats, this documentary offers eyewitness accounts of the genocide from those who experienced it firsthand. FRONTLINE illustrates the failures that enabled the slaughter of 800,000 people to occur unchallenged by the global community.

Of note: testimony was given yesterday (see Democracy Now program just below this for Thursday Aug 7th) where the French government, through it's agents in the military, were complicit in the Rawandan events.

What would the french government stand to gain by the slaughter of an ethnic group in rwanda?

Well, it wasnt just the french, and not just 'one' nor an 'ethnic' group's fate.
What was and is sold to the world as an 'ethnic war' was actually a reorganization of economic powers (mining and electronical multinational companies with the allegiance of governments) fighting about COLTAN, the mineral used on mobile phones and most any other electronic thingy, like, let's say,a Playstation.
For more info, try googling 'coltan genocide', or read John Le Carre, 'THE MISSION SONG'.
