The Shock Doctrine - The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein [128kbs]

Seeds4 Seeds Leechers0 Leechers
496.29 MB

Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine follows the evolution of the use of shock to undemocratically install Milton Friedman style economic "reforms". She shows the methodical use of both collective as in a natural disaster or coup d'état, and shock perpetrated against individuals as torture and it's cousins, from the experiments in brain washing done at McGill University in the 1950s to modern day applications from the September 11th, 1973 coup in Chile to Katrina to Iraq. She has a wealth of irrefutable documentation to support her assertions including names, places, documents and the long list of impoverished populations the Neo Cons have left in their wake. This audio book is in MP3 format at 128 k/sec.

I have read Shock Doctrine and it is a very important book. It also gives a provable theory of how finance has worked and is working currently in the world and particularly the US.

For a a video presentation by Naomi Klein, find her
speech at the University of Chicago presented last week on Democracy Now. For some reason the torrents of DN! have not been coming through.

Here is the direct link to view the stream:

You can also read the rush transcript.

It is a good book and worth reading. One criticism that should be noted is that the book takes on this "modern capitalism" in its own terms. It is strictly rational and operates squarely within the bourgeois ideology. It's more complicated than the sophistry of the "shock doctrine."

By sophistry do you refer to the analogy with the
physical sciences that she mentions which is the idea of shock therapy and how it works in medicine?

Here again it would be helpful to have Democracy Now torrented again so that people could capture the speech at University of Chicago. The event was to protest a research institution on the campus dedicated to Friedman ideology and practice-- the so-called Chicago Boys.
