it is the only significant anti-Gulf War film that came out of Hollywood.

yeah, actually true - it is still problematic in its own hollywood way - but still a good movie.

at the end of the movie the only liberation for the refugees is to escape to Iran - not into Uncle Sam's arms, so...

The movie is a satire which sends up the media and the us army. The last third of the movie is the most interesting as it reflects the US Saddam agreement that allowed Saddam to crush his internal opposition while uncle sam whistled dixie with his back turned.

I don't recall any satire in it. Just more militainment.

See the torrent on here *called* militainmnet for a better idea of what it is.

Just go get it at the vid store. Hardly appropriate for OBT. Martin, your first instinct was correct.
