interestingly enough, the free software movement is the good kind of indirect propaganda. It garners users into the philosophy of liberal enlightenment, not the perverse kind, rather the underpinnings for the movement away from barbarism in the most general sense.
if you are not already a linux user, but a user of this site, I suggest strongly that you back up your files and install linux. This would make your lifestyle more compatible with your ideals, allowing them to reinforce each other.

Try other Distros also, you will be amazed how they look like Vista or XP and still functions the same. (PCLinuxOS, Fedora, Mandriva, ArchLinux and many others, just take your pick of what fits your taste - that's RevolutionOS!)

I respectfully disagree.
If you are just moving to linux from windows you should absolutely go with ubuntu. The debian package maintainers and ubuntu QA team do a tremendous job of making sure that everything just works.
