"The theory of evolution is under attack from a controversial new idea called intelligent design. But is it science?" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programmes/horizon/war.shtml The programme is weak in its detailed rebuttal of the fake science but does give a worrying overview of the agenda of US religious nuts and their propagandised version of creationism called 'intelligent design'.

"The programme is weak in its detailed rebuttal of the fake science"

Yes, Horizon is "science journalism"; they're trying to be "objective". There are plenty of other sources whose task is to debunk their claim. This episode is very informative about the social context and historical progression of the movement. Very good documentary.

Horizon is classified as 'light entertainment' rather than 'science documentary'. This episode was better than most but it gave some detail of the creationist propaganda and little time to debunking it. A viewer with little scientific knowledge could be easily misled. Then there was the issue of the MORI poll, the results of which the BBC released prior to the episode indicating that most Britons do not accept the Theory of Evolution. A sop to the religious lobby perhaps?
