The verbal blunders of Mohammed Saeed Al-Sahaf -- Saddam Hussein's loyal information minister, better known as "Baghdad Bob" -- have become fodder for documentary filmmakers seeking the dark humor in the tragedy of war. They've assembled an almost endless loop of Baghdad Bob's wacky statements (e.g. "My feelings, as usual, we will slaughter them all") interspersed with commentary and analysis from comics, pundits, journalists and shrinks.

We will know we have succeeded in spreading democracy (and capitalism) to the Middle East when someone named "Baghdad Bob" is a furniture or used car salesman appearing in a cowboy hat and waving a wad of money on TV in Baghdad.

The war in which we spend billions to bring "democracy" to the Middle East. Maybe I meant to say "Capitalism." So often, the two are confused. But once the Iraqi's TV is plagued with infomercials and their equivalent of Billy Mays becomes a household name and is heralded when he dies, we'll know we've succeeded in bringing them the best America has to offer.
