Alien Visitor (aka Epsilon) (De Heer, 1997)-aNaRCho

(FILM IS IN ENGLISH BUT ENG SUBS ALSO PROVIDED)

A beautiful alien is sent from the planet Epsilon to pass judgment on the shameful way in which humans have mishandled their planet. Set in a near future in which humanity has made great strides in cleaning up the Earth, it begins as a grandmother tells her granddaughters a story from the past. Her tale begins in the desert outback during the dark times when people were actively ruining their planet. The naked alien is placed upon the desert where she eventually meets a surveyor who quickly gives her some clothing. As the two travel across the land, the alien constantly admonishes him for his race's carelessness and greed. She informs him that other intelligent life forms consider humans hopeless failures. Using her ability to travel instantly to any of Earth's locales, she takes the bewildered surveyor on a whirlwind tour to prove her point. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Stunning cinematography of the Australian landscape as well!

A film so bad that it could be good?

quote from review: 'It's like being trapped in a corner by a borish drunk at a party, an overbearing dufus with too many lame opinions & insufficient wit or intellect even when sober.'

its just not a typical hollywood sci-fi film, its slow and dialogue based. doesnt mean its bad. just different, the mainstream movie-goer is fucking ignorant when it comes to the cinematic integrity of a film, this film has a message....most people dont want to hear a message, let alone one that will make them think. they just want something mindless, that will make them temporarily forget how shitty and empty their lives really are. these people are products. is that where you stand redjade? maybe you should gowatch battlefield earth instead, lmao. anyone with any cinematic knowledge whatsoever will recognize the brilliant cinematography in this film, which combined with the various techniques used such as time lapse, etc makes for an extremely technically sound film.

I grabbed BNW to watch later.

But here I'll throw in a pitch for the best long form science fiction film made for tv: Charlie Jade. It's still available on torrents. While not lacking in action, the long form (20 episodes) makes it like a novel with rich detail.

To understand how the long form differs from the 45 minute hour, see the documentary on Peter Watkins called "The Universal Clock"

Another comment on this one:

Mindwalk with Liv Ullman and Sam Waterston came to mind while watching Alien Visitor. Jeez, like night and day. Alien Visitor being the night.

I have watched Mindwalk several times. These days it's on the torrents and easily found. An excellent pick for OBT if someone knows how to post it here.
