"NOW examines the growing pay gap between high level executives and the nations workforce, while workers fight for decent wages, healthcare and retirement benefits. "All that money comes out of our pocket," says Larry Olinger, a machinist at Boeing and president of the local union lodge. "And it's so they can put it into the pockets of the CEOs. Where do we draw the line?" Some investors also say the skyrocketing compensation has hurt shareholders. The report explores whether the expensive pay packages are necessary and justified, or bad for business and the economy. Since the Bush administration's prescription medicine program began on January 1, tens of thousands of elderly people have been unable to get medicines promised to them by the government. David Brancaccio talks about the ups and downs of the plan with Judith Stein, the executive director of the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc., a group that works to increase access to comprehensive Medicare coverage and excellent health care for elders and people with disabilities. Ms. Stein has focused on legal representation of the elderly since beginning her legal career in 1975.
