Independent Lens: Butte, America
Aired: Oct 20, 2009

You see the world differently when you work underground. That made Butte, Montana, different right from the start as immigrants came from around the world to work the mines. But what they blasted out of the 10,000 miles of tunnels was more than just copper. It was the rise of unions and multinational corporations, and the seeds of the current debate over the environment.

Thanks Ekolb, Not very enjoyable if you know what I mean. I never knew this about Butte. I'm just saddened, I just finished watching it. History does repeat itself doesn't it.Sort of like Flint, Michigan. And what a name for a company "Anaconda"? Then go to Chile for cheaper labor and resources. The American people need to see stuff like this, to sicken us so bad we might just get a clue. Wake Up.No one cares about you. You're all expendable.During the late 70's, early 80's I remember driving by Butte. There was nothing there, but I do remember seeing that huge statue and exclaiming "what the hell is that doing there. Now I know.
