By screwed up I mean maybe not as expertly ripped as some of the others on here.
Looks okay, however because of the age of the film and the fact that it's not your average Hollywood blockbuster it's not some digitally remastered ultra sharp print.
Sorry for the confusion.

If you are getting into encoding, you might try the XviD codec instead of DIVX. XviD is a compatible MPEG4 codec, is open source (unlike DIVX) and slightly better quality. Do a 2-pass encoding - it takes twice as long but the end result is significantly better than a single pass.

Thanks Prescott. I had a look at Xvid, but didn't have the first clue where to begin. DIVX was a case of dropping the file and and selecting the final file size (700mb). I'd rather use Xvid, so any help appreciated.

I use Linux at home so can't really advise you on what is the best Windows package for encoding. From what I've seen, AutoGK is a good solution for beginners. You might also need DVD Decrypter. There are some guides here:

Just read that AutoGK has adware (looks like this can be deinstalled from the Windows control panel - but you never know).

Thanks Prescott.
Taken your advice with AutoGK.
A little concerned that when I left this morning 33 people were d/l this but now they have their 100% they have all sodded off.
Very public spirited.
