Report Abuse/InfringementNach 500 Jahren des Raubbaus und der brutalen Unterdrückung befindet sich Lateinamerika an einer Wende: In mehreren Staaten treten demokratisch gewählte Präsidenten aus dem progressiven Lager ihr Amt an. Die meisten von ihnen sind aus keiner der alteingesessenen politischen Institutionen hervorgegangen und ihre Wahlsiege sind kein Zufall. Die neuen Staatsoberhäupter stehen für den jahrzehntelangen Emanzipierungskampf der Völker. Ihre Programme haben eines gemeinsam: das vereinte Vorgehen gegen das durch Ungleichheiten und soziale Ausgrenzung verursachte Elend in weiten Teilen der seit Generationen benachteiligten ärmeren Bevölkerungsschichten.
In poetischer Sprache zeichnet Gonzalo Arijon in seiner zweiteiligen Dokumentation "Lateinamerika erhebt sich" das Bild eines Kontinents, dessen Nationen und Völker ihre Geschicke selbst in die Hand nehmen wollen.
After 500 years of depletion and brutal oppression, Latin America is at a turnig point: In several states democratically elected presidents from the progressiv camp took office. Most of them have not emerged from the old established politically institutions and their election victories are no coincidence. These new heads of the state stand for the fight for equal rights these states are fighting for decades. Their programms have one thing in common: the united course of action against the sufferings of large parts of the poor population caused by unequality and social exclusion.
