This is a really cool documentary that follows Kevin Vigilante's 1994 run for the US House of Representatives in Rhode Island. Vigilante, a physician, was a Republican running in the 1994 midterm elections that result in major Republican wins in the US House. However, Kevin had one thing going against him.. his opponent was Patrick Kennedy, son of the legendary Ted Kennedy.
To be clear, this documentary is not an anti-Kennedy . The film's focus is primarily on the effects that large sums of money and huge name recognition have on elections. We essentially see Kevin Vigilante facing a seemingly un-scalable mountain on his quest to be elected to congress.
I almost didn't upload this because I am such a fan of the Ted Kennedy and many of the politically active family members. But the documentary illustrates a point that goes beyond the Kennedy clan... at the end of the day.. money and a famous name can easily trump all other issues in elections.
Also: Extra DVD footage is included. There is the trailer for the movie, the concession speech by the loosing candidate, and all the ads run by both sides during the campaign.
As always... please seed
