Churchill, Ward - speeches and interviews

Activist, academic, intellectual, artist and defender of Native American rights, Ward Churchill has been active in the American Indian Movement for years and has chosen to publish his works almost exclusively with alternative publishers such as AKPress and City Lights Books.

Churchill is an expert on Native American history, activist and liberation struggles, government repression, domestic and international law, civil liberties, colonization and decolonization, Native American portrayal in popular culture, genocide, and he has published dozens of works regarding these subjects.

While he was a professor at the University of Colorado one of his works about Sep11 attracted the attention of Faux News' Bill O'Reilly -Rupert Murdoch's mouthpiece- four years after it was published. The 3 Bills -O'Reilly, Owens & Ritter (the latter Governors of Colorado)- began attacking Churchill's status as professor and used every bit of ammo (principally disinformation) they had at their disposal to get him fired from the University during the 3rd wave Bush II-era red scare that was sweeping universities. He was fired after an "Investigative" Committee at CU, composed entirely of Churchill opponents, combed his enormous body of heavily-cited work and decided that FIVE citations found within it all -which includes dozens of books and articles and over FIVE THOUSAND citations- did not have academic merit. Churchill took the University to court for unfair dismissal with the support of a large portion of the student body & faculty of CU, not to mention with the expressed support of N. Chomsky, H. Zinn, the ACLU, D. Jensen, B. Ayers, M. Abu-Jamal and many other intellectuals and dissidents. Churchill won the case when the jury found that no research misconduct had taken place; however, the judge decided not to reinstate him to his former position as university professor. Ward is currently appealing the judge's decision.

I was originally just going to post his Wikipedia biography as the torrent description before I read it and decided that most of it, and most other Churchill-related Wikipedia articles, were quite obviously written in the basement of some government building.  So I decided to write the above bio for OBT. Have a look at the Wiki bio if you dare:

I'm in the process of trying to balance the Wikipedia articles out a bit. Anyone who has his books on hand willing to help me would be appreciated. I've just added and sourced some quotes from his book Kill the Indian, Save the Man on his WikiQuote page (as well as some minor edits to his bio):

Apart from some of his books in print, this is all I have of his work. If someone could upload his CDs or some PDFs it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the seedin' aid redjade.

If one listens to these talks it becomes clear why he was put down by the university gatekeepers. The same goes for getting one's hands on one of his books: the academic rigor of which is very clear. I was first introduced to Ward by my history professor in college (graduated: History major, PoliSci minor). He assigned 'On the Justice of Roosting Chickens' to our class when the work was first published, a couple of years before the O'Reilly slander campaign. I'd never been exposed to such well-cited work. Every other sentence in the book is cited & about a 5th of the book consists of endnotes + bibliography to back up his claims. And the endnotes turn out to be just as interesting as the principle content of the book itself! I'd recommend that OBTers read one of his books, or at the very least listen to a few of these MP3s -in his own words- before prejudicing themselves by reading the wikipedia stuff that's been heavily tainted by the same O'Reilly semen addicts and FrEDdies that want to shut him up. It took a lot of combing through a TON of citations & digging through fossilized claims of "misconduct" to find some really sketchy stuff to be "worthy" of firing him over. It's also worth remembering that all of this was taking place during the same time as the witch hunt against N. Finkelstein & D. Graeber, what I referred to in my Ward bio as the 3rd wave US red scare.
At least that's _my_ contextualization of the link you posted.

...also interested in hearing other opinions ...
