This documentary was produced in cooperation with BP for Britain's "History Plus 1" channel. It aired about two weeks after the disastrous Gulf of Mexico explosion which claimed 11 lives.

While the documentary takes an objective tone toward its subject, it reveals a good bit about the nature of the oil business and the safety history of BP, including the explosion of the Piper Alpha off-shore drilling platform in the North Sea in 1988, in which 167 workers were killed.
